The museum is located in the restored 1917 country home of Katharine Reynolds and her husband, R.J. Reynolds, founder of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.
What began as a vision of Katharine and R.J. Reynolds has become home to a collection of American art from our country's earliest artists to modern pieces.
Children love to visit the attic and see the vintage toys and apparel, while the basement bowling lane, pool and other amusements make the art gallery as much about local history as it is about art. Reynolds House also offers continuing education and enrichment courses.
The Museum also features changing exhibitions and is the final venue of only six museums across the country to host the blockbuster “Modern Masters” exhibition from the Smithsonian American Art Museum (Oct. 7-Dec. 31, 2011).
