Carolina Asphalt Pavement Association (CAPA) was founded in 1949. CAPA represents 95 percent of North Carolina's asphalt industry - approximately 30 asphalt producers and 30 associate members, who supply materials to the asphalt industry. The association represents members' interests on issues involving the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the environment and legislation.

CAPA is active with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry (NCCBI) and many other business groups.

As a partner of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), CAPA supports only the highest standards of engineering and construction. Members receive training in many areas, including environmental compliance.

CAPA is a founding member of NC Go!, a broad-based statewide coalition of groups committed to solving North Carolina's transportation problems. NC Go! consists of transit groups, chambers of commerce, American Automobile Association (AAA), the N.C. Farm Bureau, NCCBI and many other organizations.
