They offer TAP classes where the students wear Tap shoes and learn to make rhythms through sound out of their feet. They have Tap classes for ALL ages and levels of experience! Tap is done to upbeat music from all eras allowing for a good workout.

Offered JAZZ classes combine ballet basics with expressive movement! The students wear ballet shoes, jazz shoes or foot thongs, depending on the class level. They offer Jazz classes to students who have basic ballet experience, starting at age 4-6 on up through adult. Jazz can be done to upbeat music and incorporates a lot of stretch as well.

Ballet is the foundation of any dancer. The ballet classes teach positioning and poise to even 2 yr olds! They offer all levels of ballet to any age dancer! Ballet shoes are worn in all ages and levels of class.

LYRICAL is an expressive style of dance incorporating ballet and jazz movements to interpret the lyrics of a song. This style is introduced as early as 6-8 years old.

HIP HOP is a street style of dance used to incorporate rhythm and coordination! Hip Hop has grown to be such a popular form of dance in studios nationwide. Tennis shoes are worn in this class, as well as street clothing; no dancewear is required! This class is available for ages 8 and under, 9-12 years and 13 and over.

GYMNASTICS incorporates flexibility, strength, stretch and power! They teach floor work on mats only, consisting of everything from cartwheels to aerials! They offer this class for ages 2
and up!

DANCE WEAR needs to be worn in all classes (except hip hop) but is the choice of the dancer as far as style, color, etc! They do not require specific dancewear for any classes other than Ballet classes that are 1 hour or more each week. In that case the ballerinas wear pink tights and black leotards. It is also helpful to keep long hair up and back.

Recreational Dance is for fun and learning! Students will be confident and poised from dancing and taking gymnastics. Classes typically meet once a week and the fall season starts September 2, 2008! Every year in May they have an exciting "End of the Season Recital" at Ovens Auditorium to celebrate the accomplishments of all the dancers ! No tickets need to be purchased for this event, and family and friends are welcome as well.

Don’t miss out on their open house August 24th 2:00-4:00pm. You can register early and they encourage those interested to do so by phoning in, stopping by, or filling out their registration online, as classes fill quickly due to demand and their desire to keep class sizes conducive to learning!

Competition Program Information:

Weir Dancin strives to be the best of the best in all its programs. Their competitive program offers its dancers instruction and growth in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance.

Ballet and regular Technique Classes are a vital part of what makes a dancer successful, well rounded and most importantly well trained. They are careful to match students to technique and ballet classes that are conducive to their age level and ability! Competitive dancers at Weir Dancin, age averaging 9 or higher, take regular 2 hour technique classes once a week, and ballet twice a week, as these classes are required for dancers who compete in all disciplines of dance, except for hip hop.

The audition process this season begins on July 21st!

Students learn new combinations each week and enjoy the various styles they are exposed to as the weeks progress. This means that when a student is out of town, and comes in after the classes have been in session, they are not behind - merely responsible for knowing what they learned in classes they attended!
August 26th a master class will be taught to each age level of dancers by a nationally renowned choreographer from outside our studio. August 27th and 28th the dancers will audition with the combinations learned in front of a professional panel of three judges, who also are not affiliated with the studio; offering an unbiased view to the dancers auditioning.

Children auditioning for “Tiny” (age average 5-7) or  “Mini” (age average 8-9) competition groups will not have to audition formally - just take part in an exciting class for their age group on the 26th!

Competition Teams are chosen and categorized by age averages and skill. Students are placed where they can grow, be inspired and challenged throughout the season ahead! They offer groups for all ages and levels of dance. It is important to us that instruction is offered to all levels, giving each child an equal opportunity!

Group Chorography Fees are only paid when a choreographer from outside our studio is hired to come in and choreograph a routine for them. Any group routine choreographed by their own award winning staff is not charged any choreography fee. Typically there is an average of only 5-6 routines per season for which they hire outside choreographers, and those students involved in these routines do so by choice!

Solos, Duets And Trios are offered to all students regardless of age, experience or level! It is their belief that dancers grow so much working on a special number as such, and they offer this to ANY dancer(s) interested!!!

Weekends are used for only occasional rehearsals and solo, duet, trio choreography!

Weir Dancin Directors/Teachers are enthusiastic and honored to do what they love as a career. They take pride in every student they teach, and feel they are all a reflection of who they are. They strive to instill self worth, high self esteem, team work and good morals in a positive family atmosphere to every child they instruct! They are readily available to discuss your interests and answer any questions you might have regarding this program!
