About NAARVA :
NAARVA has evolved from an idea conceived by a small group of acquaintances in fifty two (52)rigs at Winton Woods Campground, outside Cincinnati, Ohio, in the summer of 1993, to a National organization with a membership in excess of 1400 active RVers. Currently more than fifty (50) local clubs are now Chartered or Affiliated Chapters of NAARVA.

Chapters are recognized for outstanding contributions made to the National organization. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates, who are related to NAARVA members, whose required essays are scored as meritorious by the Scholarship Committee.
NAARVA makes a financial contribution to a non-profit organization, which serves various aspects of the African American population. Funds for the donation come from the offering collected at the church service that closes out each Rally on Sunday morning.

NAARVA History:
The idea for an organization of African American recreational owners was conceived by a small group of acquaintances in the summer of 1993. This group arrived at Winton Woods Campground in fifty two (52) rigs. Five clubs were in attendance, The Buckeye Explorers of Dayton, OH; The Free Rollers and Sunseekers of the Detroit area; Derby City Campers of Louisville, KY; Columbus Camper Club of Columbus, OH, and the host club, The Ohio Buckeye Road Runners of Cincinnati, OH, plus one family from Meridian, MS.
They laid the ground work for that was to become the largest gathering of African American RVers, ever. Eighty seven recreational vehicles were driven to Belleville ,MI, very near "the Motor City". At this historic camp meeting, hosted by The Free Rollers and the Sunseekers, our national organization was launched. The first election of (interim) officers was held and our official name, given to us by The Buckeye Explorers of Dayton, OH, became "THE NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN RVers ASSOCIATION"
- 1995- The association (NAARVA) met in Lexington, Kentucky with one hundred sixty-five (165) recreational vehicles in attendance to celebrate its third camping extravaganza hosted by The Derby City Campers. At this meeting, the interim officers were unanimously voted in as the organization's first elected officials.
- 1996- NAARVA's 4th Annual Camp Rally was hosted by the Buckeye Explorers Club of Dayton, Ohio, at a State Park in the suburban Dayton area. This classy facility housed three hundred seventy-six (376) units for a gala and festive weekend.
- 1997- The Leisure Travelers Camping Club of New Jersey rolled out the red carpet at 5th Annual Camp Rally at Buena Vista Camping Park. We were blessed to have over four hundred (400) members from around the Country attend this memorable event.
- 1998- Annual Camp Rally was hosted by The Columbus Camper Club (CCC) Mansfield , Ohio . At last count, (472) four hundred seventy two RV units were registered to attend this well planned event.
- 1999- We all had " Georgia On Your Mind", The Merrimac Camping Club of Atlanta hosted this rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry , Georgia with (632) six hundred thirty two RV units. An election was held and new Executive Board members were placed in office.
After such phenomenal growth in six years, the organization began to utilize Regions, a concept offered by the first President. Five Regions were designed, and are headed by a Director and an Executive Board of elected officers. This arrangement facilitates the contact among members who live in relatively close proximity to each other. Each Region holds an annual rally in the spring of the year. The Regions began serving as hosts for the National Annual Camp Rally in the year 2000.
- 2000- the Western Region held the Rally at the State Fairgrounds in Puyallup, Washington.
- 2001-the Northern Region, hosted the Rally in the Hawkeye State of Iowa, at the Winnebago Campgrounds in Forest City.
- 2002-the Eastern Region took us to the Bethpage Camp Resort in Urbana, Virginia.
- 2003-the Central Region invited the Rally attendees to the "show me state" of Missouri, at the State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.
- 2004-the National Rally will be hosted by the Southern Region in Houston area.
- -------Following this event the regions will begin the rotation of the Rally responsibilities again.
For eleven years the National African American RVers Association, Inc., has been bringing together friends and families from across the country, Alaska and Canada for a weekend of fellowship and outdoor fun.
