Meherrin-Chowanoke Pow-Wow

We will celebrate the Meherrin-Chowanoke Annual Powwow this April 24th– 26th 2015! Please join us at the Ahoskie Recreational Complex located in Ahoskie (Hertford County) NC as we endeavor to celebrate and highlight Native American culture, tradition and heritage. This event begins on Friday, April 24, 2015 with a School Day Program from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The program will feature many cultural activities demonstrations and activities. Featured demonstrations include weaponry, weaving, wildlife, pottery, fishing and a traditional longhouse. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view and participate in various Native dances with the Aztec Dancers. Dance competition begins Friday evening with Grand Entry at 7:00 pm and runs through Sunday afternoon. Grand Entry again at 12:00 and 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 25th and 12:00 pm on Sunday, April 26th. Join us Sunday morning, 9:00 am, for a non-denominational church service. Come out and visit with our Native American artisans and Dancers. Learn about their crafts, regalia and dance styles. Listen to the drum and enjoy the color. This event is open to the general public...All are welcome!


Food vendors are available during the Pow-Wow where attendees may purchase meals at reasonable prices. Arts and crafts vendors will also be available to purchase traditional Native crafts.
